We organize several family/community events throughout the year, support schools needs through volunteerism and fundraising, and provide learning beyond the classroom through in-school enrichment programs.
Enrichment Events
Enrichment events are planned and funded throughout the school year. Past events have included performances by puppeteers, storytellers, magicians, and a bubble artist, as well as science presentations and traveling animal shows.
Family/Community Events
The PTO offers a full calendar of age- and season-appropriate family and community activities. We kick off the year with our annual back to school event, host an STEM night, reading event, and a variety of other events based on the ideas and volunteerism of PTO members.
Community Outreach
The PTO is now actively involved with a number of community service projects. These include the collection of items donated for local food pantries and shelters, as well as our own Community Cares Closet which provides clothing and clothing accessories for families in need within our community..
Fundraisers
Each year, the PTO runs several large retail fundraisers, including a Butter Bread and Cake Rolls. Other spring fundraising traditions include the Walk-a-thon, for which students seek sponsors. The PTO also has ongoing fundraisers based on various recycling efforts and sales of Douglas Tigers merchandise. And we are ALWAYS interested in exploring new ideas!
Year-End Events
Field Day is a big event that features traditional, age-appropriate field-day activities for students Prek-5. The PTO also provides financial and volunteer support for Field Day and funding for school field trips for grades K-5.
Year-Round Programs
We have partnered with many organizations that supports our school these include Hannaford Helps, Big Brother Big Sister Donation Bins, Walmart Roundup, Price Chopper's Tools for Schools and Box Tops for Education. See our website for the full list and how to register with these programs.
Miscellaneous Help
The PTO will ask for specific help throughout the year. From baking to chairing a fundraiser, you can volunteer around YOUR schedule. You are our greatest resource. The success of our organization depends solely on our volunteers. Volunteers “make the magic happen.”
